crunchy leaves

today feels like fall. the air is cool and dry. i watched leaves fall from trees in the breeze (probably one of my most favorite things to see). i stopped a road-side stand to buy giant mums. two of the pots are a really pretty orange, and the other two pots are this incredible magenta. beautiful.

yesterday was a day well-spent in clemson with my family, great friends, and good food. a win would have been nice, but i wouldn't trade the sweet moments of fellowship for anything. i came back with sun on my skin (and on my lips - i love sunburned lips!), drained from the sun, and sore from walking all over the place. that combination of exhaustion is one of my most favorite feelings. needless to say, i slept very well last night.

i got up and went to church this morning (when my alarm went off i was pretty sure i'd be unable to get out of bed, but i made it). it was one of those services where you leave feeling excited and inspired and LOVED. i was so overwhelmed by who jesus is and what he has done in my life. stephen furtick was the guest speaker at newspring today, and he preached from his new book "sun stand still." why i have never taken the time to study the words in joshua 10 before today, i do not know. read these words:

o, sun stand still over gibeon
o, moon over the valley of aijalon
so the sun stood still
and the moon stopped
til the nation avenged itself on its enemies
as it is written in the book of jashar
the sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day
there has never been a day like it before or since
a day when the lord listened to a man
surely the lord was fighting for israel
(joshua 10:12-14)

i'm meditating on these words, and crying out to jesus to show me that he is able and faithful to make the sun stand still for me. think on these verses with me. more to come later.
